What to Expect
The Process for Getting Your Estate Plan Completed
One of the things that sets us apart from other firms is our estate planning process. We take the time to get to know you, listen to your concerns, and explain your estate planning options in clear and easy to understand terms. We want our clients to understand their choices and be engaged in the decision-making process so we can design an estate plan that best suits your family.
Step 1
Initial Consultation
During our initial consultation, we’ll discuss your goals for your estate plan, and we’ll describe the basics of the estate planning process. After listening carefully to your needs and wishes, we’ll offer our recommendation on what type of plan will work best to meet your needs and discuss pricing. We’ll also schedule your Signing Meeting at this meeting (usually about four weeks after the Initial Consultation), which ensures your estate plan is completed on a timely basis.
Step 2
Document Preparation
We’ll prepare your customized estate plan based on our conversation and what’s right for you and your loved ones. We’ll email copies of your plan to you for your review. If you'd like to schedule a meeting to review your documents in person, we'll schedule a meeting to do so.
Step 3
Review & Signing Meeting
At this meeting, we’ll review your documents and address any questions you have. This is your estate plan and its important you understand how it works. You'll then sign your documents and make your plan official! If your plan includes a Revocable Living Trust, our office will take care of recording the deeds to transfer any real property into your trust.
Step 4
Document Delivery
After your Signing Meeting, you’ll take home your completed, original documents in your estate plan portfolio. We’ll also email you electronic copies of your documents so that you have your documents in hard copy and electronic form.
